Do you know how many ERP vendor worldwide? I don’t know but I bet they are more than fifty and could be more than one hundred including local ERP software. Which ones are considered as Top ERP vendor? Of course most people will tell that SAP is the most top ERP vendor because one of the reasons is they have had a lot of enterprise scale clients.
But today some ERP consultants segmented Top ERP into small business, middle market and enterprise. Each market has its own top ERP vendor. For instance, SAP and Oracle are top ERP vendors for enterprise market while Microsoft is for small and medium business.
May be in the future people will establish short-list Top ERP vendor according to industry type, such as agriculture, aerospace and defense, automotive, computer/electronic, transportation and so on.
However, all ERP report 2010 I’ve read show me that SAP, Oracle and Microsoft are the most top ERP vendor based on their market share. SAP market share is 31%, Oracle 25% and Microsoft Dynamic 15%. Now I am going to show you list of some top ERP vendors. I will group them based on business size that allows you to find quickly top ERP vendors that fit in your business but please remember that this list does not mean the best for your company. It depends on your business requirements. The list will only help you to determine which vendor should be contacted when you start selecting ERP solution.
Top ERP vendor based on business size
1. Small Business
Microsoft Dynamics is considered as top ERP for SMB (small medium business) because the features are ideally suited to the requirements of small and medium organizations. Microsoft has more than 83,000 ERP customers.
The family of Microsoft ERP products are as follow :
- Microsoft Dynamics AX (Axapta)
- Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
- Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon)
Both Dynamic AX and NAV offer strong distribution and manufacturing while Dynamics GP remains a channel favorite and offers the strongest financials among the MS product suites. Dynamics SL also has a loyal VAR channel, strong Financials and a competitively strong project accounting and job cost suite.
2. Middle Market
I found two products that are considered as Top ERP in this segment, that are :
- Epicor
Epicor has 20,000 customers in more than 150 countries. It offers solid ERP functionality together with a number of impressive Industry solutions for Professional Services Automation (PSA), hospitality management, pharma, manufacturing, distribution and non profit. - Infor
Infor has more than 70,000 customers and 3rd largest ERP manufacturer, behind only Oracle and SAP. Infor has several different ERP software systems and particularly strong distribution, lean manufacturing, complex manufacturing, process manufacturing solutions and supply chain management (SCM).
3. Enterprise ERP Leader
Obviously SAP and Oracle are the most top ERP in this segment. They are #1 and #2 ERP market share leader. Today SAP has released ERP solution for small and midsize business (SMB): SAP Business One and they claim that they have helped more than 75,000 SMB companies.
I think no more information I can give you around these vendors because most likely all IT people know them and probably you know better than me.
As I said, there are so many ERP vendors in the world. Perhaps you find other ERP vendor will be Top ERP in several coming years.
