Welcome to our website. Currently, I am working as an IT manager of a pharmaceutical manufacturer and perhaps if you are like myself, you will find this entire subject of ERP both fascinating and enlightening. Some of my first experiences with ERP came about years ago when the the whole notion of how to utilize and properly implement the technology was still gaining attention and traction across various industries. The first ERP software I personally worked closely with was in Great Plains in 1998. I was member of GP implementation team for customizing the standard modules. That was simply a very exciting time in my career and the knowledge I gained from the implementation side and the practical applications of ERP across the organization are among my favorite memories. What I really enjoyed from my GP days was how easy and necessary it was to customize the software modules and integrate it with other external applications. The company I am working for now has not yet implemented any ERP software, though we will be moving out of the ERP dark ages in the near future. We have been using home made software since 1992 and it will be replaced by ERP software over the next few years. In this blog, I would like to share my opinion and experiences with ERP and its impact on industries. As you will learn when you review some of the material here, ERP has quite an interesting history, but its future applications, particularly in small to medium sizes companies will be fascinating as time unfolds.
